There are certain requirements you must satisfy before you start your Manual or Automatic Driving Lessons.
You need to have a UK Provisional Driving Licence. The application form can be obtained from the local Post Office. If you have an old style Driving License, then you will also need a current UK passport to confirm identity. This is more of a requirement for the purpose of either the Theory Test or Practical Test. It is more practical to change to the new style Provisional Driving License as it will need to be done after passing your test anyway.
You must also be able to read or write down a number plate from 20.5 metres.
At Class One Driving School the full DSA syllabus will be covered and structured to your needs. The first driving lesson will begin with you learning the different controls of the motor car and how they work.
The next stage will be learning how to move the car away from the side of the road and to park it again!! Once you have mastered the controls of the motor car, then you can start to learn how to deal with basic hazards, where you will start to build your awareness skills. When you feel confident on the quieter roads you will then be ready to deal with more complex situations on the busier roads.
Learning to drive is a big step and can be quite daunting. At Class One Driving School I firmly believe, that to get the best from your driving lessons, lessons should be conducted in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. If the atmosphere within the car is relaxed then so are you, the driver.
To aid the learning process, I am able to send you, by e-mail, several PDF''s covering many areas of learning from Moving Off to Driving at the Appropriate Speed.
Passed and present pupils have found these very useful. Thoery is very important and the PDF''s can speed up the learning procees. This may even need you to take less Driving Lessons, so could even cost you less!
Driving Lessons can be taken at a pace that suits you. At Class One Driving School you won't be badgered into cramming lessons in. Lesson frequency and duration will be discussed so that you are comfortable. Two lessons would be more beneficial but I recommend that you have at least one lesson a week, to ensure continuity.
As you go through the course you will be kept up to date of your progress. We''ll discuss the good points and not so good points of your driving. We can then decide the best way to rectify the latter!!
This is the best way to prepare you for the Driving Test and to give you the necessary skills to drive safely once you pass. At Class One Driving School you will be taught how to drive and not just how to pass a Driving Test! This will be of more use to you in the future when you will be totally responsible for your own decision making and actions.
When we agree that you are ready to book your driving test it can be booked at https://pt.dsa.gov.uk/tests/online_booking.asp
You will also be taught to drive independently. This will include both following multiple directions and following Road Signs. The link below will show you more about Independent Driving.
The Practical Driving Test cannot be booked until the Theory Test has been passed but you can start driving lessons before you take your Theory Test. This is recommended because it will help you with your Hazard Perception. The Theory Test is explained in more detail later in the website.
